Hi, I'm Lucey β wife, mama, gardener, maker, lifelong learner, and the heart and hands behind Rains Holistic Homestead.
My love for growing and making things started long before this business ever had a name. I grew up watching my mother tend beautiful, massive gardens, and she had an interest in herbalism that planted a seed in me long before I realized just how important it would become.
As I got older, that little seed grew.
As a childhood cancer survivor and someone who lives with psoriasis, I've become very conscious of what I put in and on my body. I began looking more closely at the ingredient lists on everyday products and wondering why something had to contain twenty ingredients when I could learn to make it myself with five.
And that's pretty much how I approach life: if I can learn to make it myself, I want to.
Not because everything homemade is automatically better, but because I can know what's in it, understand why it's there, learn how it works, and figure out what needs changing when something doesn't.
I may not be rich by the world's definition, but I am incredibly rich in the ways that matter most to me β in faith, family, knowledge, purpose, and the ability to create with my own two hands.
I've also learned that living a simpler, more natural life shouldn't be something reserved only for those with a large budget. Sometimes knowing how to make something yourself is its own kind of wealth.
That belief has become an important part of Rains Holistic Homestead. I work hard to keep my products reasonably priced because my goal has never been to help only the people who can afford the highest price tag. I want what I make to be within reach for everyday families, without ever sacrificing the quality and care that goes into it.
At the center of all of it is my faith.
I believe every plant I grow, every herb I study, and every bit of knowledge I've been blessed enough to learn ultimately comes from God. He created these things. He gave us minds capable of learning about them, hands capable of working with them, and the opportunity to share that knowledge with one another.
I don't believe knowledge that could benefit someone else was meant to simply be tucked away and kept to ourselves.
That's why I started this business.
Whether someone comes to me looking for something to moisturize dry skin, soothe tired muscles, create a more peaceful bedtime routine, or simply replace another everyday product in their home, I genuinely hope what I make serves them well. Behind every jar, bottle, loaf, herb, and handmade item is a real person hoping that it makes someone's day or life just a little bit better.
Today, Rains Holistic Homestead is being built right here in Carlsbad, Texas, alongside my husband, Zach, and our son, Levi. We don't have the big homestead yet. For now, I'm growing, learning, creating, and doing everything I can with the little piece of ground God has given us.
But I have a big dream.
Someday, I hope Rains Holistic Homestead truly becomes a homestead β a thriving small family business where people can not only purchase something handmade, but come learn, watch, participate, get their hands dirty, and discover some of these skills for themselves.
And maybe, one day, I'll get to hand all of this down to my son.
Until then, I'll keep planting seeds, studying herbs, making things from scratch, learning something new whenever I can, and sharing what I've learned with anyone it might help.
Welcome to Rains Holistic Homestead. I'm really glad you're here. πΏ
